Companion Synods

All 65 synods of the ELCA are in a companion relationship with churches in other countries.

The companion synod relationship exists for the purpose of strengthening one another for life and mission within the body of Christ. It offers us the privilege of mutually participating in the life of another church through prayer, study, communication, and exchange of pastors, leaders, visitors, and resources. It opens our eyes to the global challenge that Christ offers us today.

Our two companion synods are:

The Yabim District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea

La Iglesia Luterana Costarricense (ILCO) [The Costa Rican Lutheran Church]
