Event Description

Join the NC Synod for a prayer service on the Day of Racial Healing, Tuesday, January 18, at 11:00 a.m. View bulletin here.

The Rev. Dr. John H. Spencer, pastor of St. Paul’s in Dallas, NC, will deliver a reflection based on the event’s anchor Scripture passage in Luke 10:25-37.

On Sunday, January 16, NC Synod congregations are encouraged to use liturgical resources of lamentation and repentance from racism in observance of the National Day of Racial Healing, recognized annually as the Tuesday following the celebration of the birth of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In April 2021, the ELCA Church Council affirmed Presiding Bishop Eaton’s naming of this same day as an annual ELCA Day of Repentance From Racism. View resources here.
