Just before Lent each year, the NC Synod gathers rostered ministers for a Chrism Mass—a meaningful worship service centered on renewal, blessing, and shared vocation. Together, pastors, deacons, and SAMs renew their ordination/commissioning promises and receive blessed oils to carry back into congregational life for baptisms, healing, and other sacred rites. Led by Bishop Emily and the bishop’s staff, this service offers space to pause, worship, and be refreshed in Christ’s call to ministry. All rostered ministers are warmly invited to join colleagues from across the synod for this grounding Lenten practice.
