St. John’s, Concord, showed up in generous ways for their neighbors in Cabarrus County on God’s Work. Our Hands. Sunday. An energetic group gathered at the fellowship building Sunday afternoon to pack bags of food for the congregation’s “Sonshine Backpack Ministry” program. This ministry ensures that children in the community have reliable weekend meals. Many students depend on school-provided breakfasts and lunches during the week, yet face empty pantries when Friday arrives. Each week, volunteers prepare and deliver food bags to local schools—offering nourishment, stability, and a tangible expression of Christ’s love. In less than an hour, volunteers from 4 to 80 years old packaged over 130 bags of food! Laughter from young and old filled the room as everyone worked, and more than a few members decided to become regular volunteers to help serve the community through this significant ministry.
